Xanthus read the post he had found in Aegis to himself as he sat alone, patrons in the Skara inn bustling around with business of their own. He had heard stories and rumors of course, but this new information being revealed... had cemented the will to do something about this in his mind.
Purified through intense sessions of combat training and prayer, he was absolutely certain evil was seperated again. And as he tossed a few coins onto the table and walked away out into the night, he mentally went through a few verses on his way home.
I shall be purity amongst the impure,
I shall be the innocence amongst the guilty.
When all flee in hideous disarray,
Strong and sound shall I stand.
Unbowed and unshaked against all foes,
I shall claim victory with blood.
Death stalks me in many forms,
the grotesque and inhuman.
Bloody battles unending constantly await me,
redemption the reward for my vigilance.
No unholy deed shall go unpunished,
all blasphemous acts shall be atoned.
There is much darkness surrounding me,
yet the light will show the path.
No despicable trickery will thwart me,
no damnation shall bring me low.
My will shall be my weapons,
my faith shall be my shield.
Arriving home, he opened the chest at the foot of his bed. Picking up his armor, he noted the blue tinged silver it was made from. Pure and strong. Words of purity etched in the underside of it, ready to protect from vile magic.
Looking outside, he noted the stars and the moon. Smiling a little, he recited one last verse...
I am the sword of salvation, I am the shield of redemption.
My faith shall overcome, my strength shall guide me through.
My life is for protection, none shall harm those that I guard.
May the wicked that cross the path I tread, see the truth before the end.
