I am sure many of you have read posts or heard that some of us are attempting to bring RP back into the NPC towns. We show up nightly, and walk around visiting the shops in an attempt to bring a semblance of life happening around. We chose Skara as a starting town for a few simple reasons.
1. Skara used to be a place one could always go to find other role players
2. It is not a large town, and yet it has all we could need. A tavern, shops and a nice dock.
3. It is easily reached via moongate
4. It is not close to Aegis
That does not mean it is the only town we plan to use. At the present Minister Vorn of Istas and I are working on a trade and adventuring company. To that end, our RP has us striking a deal with the leaders of Magincia for use of the docks.
This does not mean we claim the docks for all time.
In fact, I fully expect some challenge to our claim by others seeking the riches of the deep, or a strong foot hold on trade in the area.
I wish to extend a full and open invitation to all to join us. This is not an attempt in any ways to lessen the importance of our player towns. I have a great love for the accomplishments of our community. From the grandeur of Olympus to the Artistic beauty of Istas. From the dark brooding halls of the Lair to the Quiet Dignity of Silverwood. From the free wheeling nature of the Freehold of Roses to the backwoods simplicity of Aegis. And even to the free-booting life of Red Skull Bay.
All of us over the years have built this world far past the original opening screens of the game. We have forged an enduring testament to the drive of the role players to bring life where only pixels once tread. And I for one would never wish to see any part of this diminished in importance. But there is life still at the edge of our imaginations, and there is so much more we can do.
Olympus used to hold traveling bard nights, I held traveling flea markets and fairs, the Freehold has hosted event after event honoring the seasons of the year. Istas has held book fairs and grand Balls. And the Lair is always abuzz with something new to plan out. Why can we not chose one night a week and take RP into one of the towns? Bring wares to sell or plots to hatch. Do not plan what we find, but look forward to the adventure which may await around that dark corner.
Feel free to jump into the plot of the Adventure Company. Many may seek to undermine our efforts with force or trickery. Some may wish to work quietly in the background moving the plot as one moves a pawn on a chess board. There may be attacks by some, kidnappings by others, and even a bit of political bullying. But it could well prove to be a great time for all.
On a side note, we will be looking for folks interested in doing fishing nets and chasing dread pirates. All in an effort to not only have fun, but build and sustain a community.
