Personal characteristics:
- Intelligent and honest
- Friendly and tactful
- Her eyes tend to flash red when reflecting her titian hair

Cara McBride is a woman of striking contrasts. She is solid and strong, but curvy and graceful rather than chunky or stiff. She is not so much beautiful as striking, in part due to her family's strong bone structure, partly because of her very red hair and small cupid's bow of a mouth. Her warm brown eyes display a serious intellect, though she's given to the occasional giggle at jokes only she seems to know.
Cara was the daughter of a philosopher/professor at university on Hy Hy-Brasil. She was among the very few survivors of the cataclysmic event that destroyed their beloved 'Fortunate Isle' as the name translates. Illa de brasil - The Isle of Hy-Brasil derived its name from Breasal, the High King of the World in Celtic history.
Her island home stood apart from the world at large because it was shrouded in fog, and appeared only briefly, once every seven years, and only at sunset in the mists of the Atlantic. It was as if the sky would lift itself from the water like a curtain, to reveal a hidden world of obelisks and pillars.
It seemed a magical realm - neither sea nor land, yet both. The island only appeared at sunset in the mists of the Atlantic and the Gaelic speaking people of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay called it:
"a blessed, stormless isle, where all the people are good and pure and where God retreats when he seeks a rest from dealing with the wicked".
Hy Brasil was also spoken of as the Isle of the Living, the Isle of Truth, of Joy, of Fair Women, and of Apples. When visible, it could be found about 125 miles west of Portmagee, Kerry, Ireland.
The island itself was divided by an excavated channel through which the waters of the Atlantic flowed bringing sea life of a wide variety. The university had several golden, temple-like buildings lit by constant and curious flames that did not so much as flicker in the rough Atlantic winds. The East shore had three strong castles should defense be necessary, but it was better known for its apple and lemon groves watered by sweet-scented fountains fed by softly singing streams, its cattle, sheep, horses, and black rabbits.
There, she thrived until forced to leave and seek a new life in what she hoped would be an enlightened realm.
