Skyler hails from the City of Ocllo. Her father was a scribe, her mother an herbalist. Naturally, she developed a talent for working with magic and reagents at a young age. When Sosaria split and Ocllo became shrouded in darkness, the young family moved to the City of Magincia, which, at the time, was bustling with activity.
When Skyler was old enough, she was sent to the Lycaeum in Moonglow, where she was further schooled in the magic arts. She soon became well enough known that she was employed part-time as a scribe, binding and writing books for other students and teachers. She often visited her parents to assist them in tutoring the young mages that were drawn to Magincia's vast array of magical shops.
It was while she was away at the Lycaeum that Magincia came under attack and ultimately ruined. Her parents were among those that lost their lives in the tragedy. Alone, her coffers full from her inheritance, she decided to take leave from the Lycaeum and turned her focus to religion. She soon discovered that unless she were to turn to the dark arts, she would never be able to use all her magic knowledge to bring back her parents, for their souls were corrupted by the evils that plagued the fallen City. After one year of religious study, it became evident that magic was still her calling. She decided to leave Trammel for a time and made her way to the newly discovered land of Ter Mur.
In Ter Mur she befriended the inhabitants of a newly constructed human town of Solace. They were in need of a chapel keeper and she, being intrigued by the new magics that the land offered, agreed to stay as the Solace Chapel charge.
A dark day in her life brought her to the attention of a demon. This demon took possession of her and bound her to him for a short, (but nonetheless terrifying) period of time. She has never spoken of what transpired during her time of servitude. The binding has made her unable to vocalize the events that transpired.
It was after her release that she would return to Solace Chapel and meet the man she would come to love, Kaylor McKairin. He would frequent the Chapel either to pray or just simply visit and talk. They found they had much in common and spent many hours with each other.Kaylor and Skyler are currently betrothed, though it will be quite some time before they are wed. They now live together in his home in Umbra and the Chapel has been passed on to another keeper.
Skyler left Kaylor when he decided to persue the path of the Iluminati. She befriended Xanthus Razele, who warded her with soul protection. An amethyst amulet, also warded, is now never removed from her neck. Hiding in the Empath Abbey after she fled from Umbra, Skyler soon became bored of making scrolls and potions for the old monks. She went to Moonglow, to the Lycaeum where she applied for a teaching position.
It was between interviews for the position when Kaylor came upon her while running errands. Though she still loves him, she does not approve of the path he has chosen. Kaylor kidnapped her, and she is now kept prisoner in his home, awaiting her fate.
