So I just logged in for the first time in several months early this morning. I didn't expect to see anyone but for some reason I felt excited about UO all over again. Not so much about the new town features which do sound cool but the possibility of RP. Is it even a possibility anymore? Does it have to be planned? Is it possible for it to be spontaneous? Either way it would be nice to see everyone around. I'll try to be online all this week from around 6pm to around midnight. If I can get some RP interaction I'll stay. If not I'll know UO's time has truly passed.

I have tried a few times peeking in Dante, but in all truth UO saddens me too much these days. The EM's try to run plots, but most are either poorly written or seem to lack any chance for spontaneous interaction.
I find it a hard thing to let go of, but I must admit that the UO I enjoyed has changed into something I no longer find fun.

If I hadn't thrown my back out tonight I'd have dragged people to Que's again. Next week I plan on it. I know that the PGoH is pretty involved with the current game plot. (I think anyway, it seemed that way last week!) And I may have Aly poke her nose around. Honestly the whole thing about RP I've found is...it's easy to sit and complain about it not being available... But then people are spending more time complaining that there's no RP than they are actually RPing. *shrugs* If people want to RP...why not get in game and gather people together and do it? It's what I did last Wednesday. *grins* "HEY! Come RP with me at Que's!" It worked too. Imagine that...*winks* I know Clive has been wanting to get together to RP too with folks. He and I have talked about it. Right Clive? So like...I dunno...why don't folks pick a day or two and log in and get together and annoy one another? Doesn't have to be in a tavern. Hell, can do it in Skara. Or...fool around with the current plot (Eh) or...make up a new one and try to get people involved! yeah...anyway..rambling...tired...much pain...sleep now...Zzzzz

Right Indeed Alyssia,
and it turned out to be a fun night, with at my max count (i got their late keep in mind) being around 9 or 10 of us showed up.
I think communication is key to the revival of UO on Cats When you want to RP, just msg some people (AIM/ICQ/FB) and let them know.
if 3 or 5 people show up, that's enough to form plots and have all kinds of fun RP.
I know its not "Spontaneous" but we must understand we are a community of people from a wide geographic range, and age.
If anyone ever wants one of my characters (or an extra) for something; don't hesitate to Msg me; Aly gave me a good three days notice which makes it easier.
---
As for the EM plot ... *mumbles* I have mixed feelings
Part of me wants to get involved to support the little RP which is gathering around the EM stuff.
But then part of me is an echo of Aedon's feelings on the matter; that the EM plots of cast in stone and unyielding, and no matter what RP we introduce to it, won't change a thing about the plot.
*shrugs*

I showed up for the EM plot last night and sat through about 45 minutes of it before what could have been a well RPed plot was just ruined by all sort of OOC types of questions an comments that interrupted the speech that was meant to have been given. Even the EM didn't really appear to be IC. It just sort of ruined it for me. I left and ran through the various RP areas and towns. I didn't run into anybody. I went resource gathering and crafted several cannons at my house and a couple of rounds for firing. No came running by my house, not that I expected them to. I logged off around 9ish CST because I was starting to get a headache. It wasn't my best night in UO but it wasn't my worst.

I decided to reactivate for a month cause Europa is picked up a bit, so by default I've decided to check in on Catskills and it seems empty to me as I rolled around on my horse. Any one care to tell me the secret of where everyone is, or the time I should be rolling around to see how people are doing?

I'd like to know where everyone is also. There is something going on with an EM event in Trinsic, but all I have heard about it is that there have been a couple of meetings to flesh out what will happen.

I have an idea...
Why don't we set up a couple nights where people know they'll be around and make an effort to show up?
Pick a time frame, place, and then make an effort to be there?
Sorta like a "tavern night" though it doesn't have to be in a tavern? Can pick Skara or something? If you DO want to use a tavern then I'm sure it can be arranged. I know James opens Que's every Wednesday whether people show up or not. You all are welcome to congregate there. And then perhaps use it as a leap off point to organize a foray out into the wider world for whatever reason. Or just spend a couple hours RPing there.
It's a start anyway. *smiles* And it's the only building I have any control over so I can't just invite people willy nilly to other player controlled buildings. Though Aedon may not mind at all if people pop in on Aegis. We'd have to ask him.
I know people have gotten tired of tavern sitting over the years, but beggars can't be choosers so to speak. *chuckles* It's better than no RP. And perhaps couple people in our enterprising community can come up with a plot or two to get people interested. I wouldn't advise anything terribly heavy at this point. Until people may be able to get into the swing of it. But it's an idea.
Now if I can get over this plague that's keeping me sick as a dog I could actually participate in anything that requires me to sit upright more than a half hour at a time.
I think a smaller, player run story might be just what we need. So long as we can see it through. That seems the hard part lately. Clive has had some good ideas that he shared with me awhile ago.
*grins at Clive* Go on Clive...convince Aly to go to the dark side... You better have cookies...

Aly , for as long as Aegis stands, folks are welcome to use it. I may have to make sure some are friended to the Rest again if they want to use the cabinets to get to the noms.

See? I knew you'd be open to the idea darlin'.
There ya go. Three places listed now that are open to people. Aegis, Que's and Skara (As it seems people are hanging out there lately). I'm sure there are many more. I know Galehaven is usually open on Sundays too, right?
So four.

I have to echo my agreement with Aly. Wednesday Night is Ques & Tuesday Night is Galehaven That's two nights out of the week you Know for pretty sure you can go and find some people Rping. I know its a Tavern, but it still is 2 nights out of 7 of knowing where to go to find some RP. If we all showed up to these nights, do you not think that plots or stories would arise from so many characters being together? As for Plots and Stories. Here is my spill; we have a never ending flood of options and ideas we could place our characters in. The real problem over the years is just people not wanting to be involved with a plot because "They are not the Star" People are hesitant to play the support roles or have their characters play a "Side role" during a story. Which I understand, but we All must Understand that in each plot Not Everyone comes out on Top With that in mind, I believe if we get behind plots and play whatever role we can, that sooner or later the favor will be returned and youll find your character at the spotlight. Heh and Aly, she has know idea what kinda sh!t ole Clive laces his cookies with but will do my best to make sure she is tempted to Convert .
