Just thought I would think out loud here and see what the rest of the rp'ers would say about creating a singular rp-only group that would have no ties whatsoever to our main characters and their guilds. I see a group that is not unlike what is done in Europa RP as far as we would leave the "super powerful/supernatural" at home, and RP as normal humans and we would build RP around what would usually be seen as mundane in the UO world. Along with one of each of us starting a new character,or dusting off a long forgotten character. We would also decide,by vote,on which town our toons would live in. This,I feel, would make for a more level playing field. Why do I bring up this suggestion? It is because I have been a fan of "Walking Dead" from the 1st episode and I want to take a page out of that book. How so? I would like to see our toons "survive" by their wits and not by how well they are equiped or if they are tucked safely away in a "warded house". So what do you all think? Is this type of idea possible here in Catskills?

aye I do believe it is possible, and needed. I think this is a good idea with the potential to "kick start" some real rp interaction. I also think it would be a decent way to bring in New rp'rs.
maybe an idea with this is not to "know" who the characters belong to. If someone wants to let others know who they are great, but if not anonymity would be respected. The goal is to bring back the basics of rp.
I like it! Nice thought!

Just an after-thought of my first post. If all of us would be willing have such a group and pick a town to inhabit, what would be a good town? I am partial to Skara and Minoc.

Not sure I would have time to dedicate to this ideal, but if I had to choose a town I would also go with Skara Brea, It's Large enough for a good number of people, and also is self-confined vie being an Island making it easier to bump into people. Also just a lot of good ole RP history their.

I tried this several times using Skara as the town of choice. The response was nil.

I tried this several times using Skara as the town of choice. The response was nil. Then perhaps we could choose a different town. The town that would be used is secondary to me. My goal is to get more roleplaying started.

The town is not the issue Hunter. It is the refusal of most folks to step outside their player run towns these days.
To me Skara is the perfect town for such an endeavor. But in the time we were working on this, myself, Beleg and Ahmaya, and some from the Freehold and Istas were all who showed.

Was it held on a weekend? Details, man!!

Details!! Ya must be daft man, I'm old.
It was before you returned to Cats, I think close to a year back now, when Beleg and Ahmaya were still playing. We actually tried to make a point of visiting Skara any night we were in game, and having supper there. Doing banking there and such.
Later on, I even tried to be in skara on the night the Rest was supposed to be open. Hoping to draw some RP back into the towns.
I think we have squandered many chances for good RP by forsaking the NPC towns so much. We all love out player towns, and it is great to show them off. But a neutral ground, an NPC controlled town would open many avenues for greater interaction.

Well, regardless of any others, I am in Skara Brea with a fresh character. Do stop by for a chat.

Someone has to keep you all on the right path. *winks*
I can nay say because I have been around for so long and have seen many good ideas rise, only to fall by the way side. There is nothing that can be proposed that has not been brought up at some time in the past. Does this mean it should not be tried again? Hell no!!
Anything that may stand a chance of spurring some RP is worth a shot. I have just seen far too many good ideas fail not for lack of value, but for lack of interest.

course you know, if you used a place like haven...you could draw new players and have a place where people actually -go- on a regular basis without being forced to....just saying.
