I have to agree with Rameses, any lack of rp I've experienced is not due to lack of "RP'ers" its been due to a lack of anyone I can find logged in. Like him I am in character always when I am not secluded away; I still find a person now and then in Britain or New Haven but no where near the people of even six months ago. I don't think its the community that has fallen off, I think its the game population in general. Yup, no people = no RP.

I eco Sage Anytime I log into any of my characters I am "In character" but like everyone else I simply don't see people when I am loged in.
Now I will admit I have not loged nearly as much as I use to, College and trying to make a social life seems to drain alot of my energy and after I have to read 50+ pages for a class the only entertainment I am in the mood for tends to be in the form of some sort of Contraband.
Tbh I think Ultima is facing a large impasse, many games are switching to Free-to-Play but you must pay for special content
Currently UO has you pay per month and as well, charges you for special items and tokens on their web-sight.
Most people just don't want to spend out 15$ a month when they can play free games and pay a few dollars for a special item.
League of Legends is a good example.
I will be trying to log in more often, but as it's been said. One Rper loged in Can't Rp
I love RP and Catskills, I really do hope the company makes some smart decisions to start attracting NEW players, instead of slowly loosing the old.

I haven't logged into the game in over a week. I just check my houses and run through the various RP towns and then New Haven Luna and Umbra. I don't usually see anyone up for RP. I saw this thread and thought I would check in and tell everyone what my UO play experience has devolved into.
I ran through Aegis, Olympus, whatever Pandora's town is called, New Haven and Luna. I only saw 8 people total. One was AFK at the New Haven Bank and the other 7 were at the Luna bank. 3 of the 7 were not AFK. Of those 3 none of which gave any indication that they would see RP as a possibility. One was spam selling his account. Another had only just ran up to the back to make a depsit.
So now it seems everyone else is having the same frustration as me. I doubt we will all ever be able to coordinate even a single date and time let alone a regular date and time. I can say this with some certainty because this onversation has happened before. It has never been this bleek though.
I am cancelling my accounts. It has been a pleasure to RP with all of you.

I tend to log in, run around rp areas briefly, find no one, and then log off.

I would say, if anyone is planning to stay at Catskills and is still interested in interaction, Then maybe there should be some Discussion here in forum as to best regular time on and such, and maybe a common bank or tavern to stop at as a starting point for a better chance of interaction. Last .. when possible use Catskills R/P channel, although I'm guilty of not having it on all the time because of distraction when Hunting.

The RP channel is a valuable tool, it lets you know who is available for interactions without having to run around to every town.
Sure it takes away from the randomness (i.e. How does my character know someone is there?), but without it, it's just people missing each other and logging out.
A common bank has never worked in my experience. The players just agree on a bank then never hang out there, and wind up just missing each other and logging out anyway.
Likewise, tavern nights tend to get repetitious. An occasional night at a tavern is ok, but if it's the only interaction everyone gets, then people get bored.
The best way to encourage roleplay is to have a variety of events. But to do that, somebody needs to take initiative to plan these. And since we all have real lives, planning gets difficult.
That makes growth (especially in this time of waning subscriptions... thanks accounts snafu!) difficult, and maintaining the status quo is not a practical option.
If I decide to come back (maybe christmas... earliest estimate, otherwise March), I'll have to think long and hard about how to create interest in pirate activities... or Vamp activities, since I have a plan for a previously underused character as well. But plans for that character haven't worked out since 2001... so no breath holding)

Lol Leander I didn't know you kept your account open, Aneirin wont your little demons be running about by christmas/march. You have two of them too you'll have to keep them from electrocuting themselves and what not. As for activity I can't help but laugh people want spontaneous interaction and when they can't get it after like a week they stop trying the new plan the bank idea could work if everyone actually followed it but no one actually did half the people that consider themselves RPer's on Catskills don't talk to the other half that considers themselves Rper's and than there are the people who want to RP but made some mistakes and aren't good enough for the some elitests.
But you know what do I know I've given up on Catskills since it was so dead. I've moved on to other things like Uni.

If Vampires had breath I would imagine it would either have a stale musty scent of death, or be scope minty fresh to hide their deadness.

I am not dead. My UO accounts are still active and I may or may not have all my houses still. I don't know because MY COMPUTER IS FRIED! Until I can get a UO app on my iPhone I'm kinda screwed.
Before the computer crapped out, I'd been busy trying to get my home business off the ground. I have trade shows to do bi-monthly with that, and also I have to make my product in my spare time so I have something to sell. This is hella time-consuming.
Wish me luck I have 3 shows in November and maybe I'll make enough cash to get a new PC (or fix mine). Until then.... Play with yourselves (but not on public that's considered bad form) and if you have my number, by all means text me! I feel so disconnected!
Much love, kisses, and sparkle berries, Steffi - Rianna's puppeteer

That is the reason Vik. I cannot tell you the number of odd spots I woke up in after sampling her baked goods. I am beginning to think the little Princess has a bit of Pooka in her.
