The snow crunched underfoot as she ran through the woods, she needed to reach the coast to see the water.
‘Tripping out
Spinning around
I'm underground, I fell down
I fell down’
She didn’t see the root sticking out of the ground she fell before she could catch herself: she fell down a deep hole. Hitting the bottom with a breath stealing thud; there she laid for several minutes.
‘I'm freaking out
So where am I now?
Upside down
And I can't stop it now
It can't stop me now’
She blinked as the blackness faded from her view, looking around she saw dirt and household items people had thrown away. Sitting up she checked her body feeling for broken bones, damage of any kind. But nothing was found broken or damaged. A light brightened from a discarded candle.
‘I, I'll get by
I, I'll survive
When the world's crashing down
When I fall and hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don't you try to stop it?
I, I won't cry’
She stood looking around, looking for a way out, she needed to get out she had to get to the coastline, something was there waiting for her. Jumping she tried to grab the tree roots. Every time she grabbed a root it snapped and she would fall again. Looking through the junk she tried to find a ladder a rope something.
‘I found myself in Wonderland
Get back on my feet again
Is this real?
Is this pretend?
I'll take a stand until the end’
Looking up she could see the blue sky above. Yelling she hoped someone would hear her, she prayed someone would hear her and help her out. Snow soon began to fall and the cold delicate flakes fell upon her tanned skin. She was not going to give up she was not about to lie down and die in a hole filled with forgotten junk. Looking down again she saw portraits and paintings of people. People from her past that had moved on. Reaching down to grab one the earth began to shake under her feet. Panic crossed her face as the earth fell away leaving a black hole under her; she was falling, falling through time and space. She was falling through the heavens into a blackness. Was this the end for her? What of her children, what of those she loved and cherished? What would happen to those she never told how she truly felt? This could not be the end of her life…..
‘
I, I'll get by
I, I'll survive
When the world's crashing down
When I'm falling hit the ground
I'll just turn myself around
Don't you try to stop me
I won't cry
I, I'll get by
I, I'll survive
When the world's crashing down
When I fall and hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don't you try to stop me
I, I won't cry’
Quiet, stillness. There was nothing. Not even the sound of her heartbeat.
Crash! Thud!
Everything came into focus and there was light, there she sat. Straight up in bed in a silent scream. It was a dream, it all had been a horrible nightmare. She had fallen only to awaken in her own bed. Looking about her bedroom everything had been the way she had left it, all accept a burning candle next to her bed.
