“Ow” Her head hurt, and it would hurt even if she had not been poisoned. She felt like she had been in a fight with a group of titans and an ancient wyrm. Her head was resting on Aedon’s chest he was holding her closely keeping her safe.
She was trying to make sense of the night’s events. She had seen someone head into the Rest and went to investigate. There was a man there, she offered him a drink and got him one. He had asked for Aedon but something was bothering her about him. There was light banter and an insult flung at Aedon that she did not care for. She informed the man; now know as Mystic, that the Rest was closed and that there was another tavern open. In all of the most innocent ways Aph took the man to Ques. Little to her knowledge this was a mistake, she knew Aedon had a lot on his mind with the trees being attacked in Yew but someone who was greedy and looking only for a profit. So she was not going to disturb him, wrong choice.
Aedon was running his fingers through her hair as she lay with her head on his chest. She just kept thinking of all that was going on, it was odd. Who would want to poison her and why? What was going on? When she got her strength back she would investigate. She had hurt Aedon and did not mean to, the wedge was starting to move between them more when she fell ill, where the Fate’s changing their mind?
Her stomach clenched, it turned and churned. She closed her eyes to push away the pain. She heard him humming, was he humming or was that her heart throbbing? Her body ached with the pain of the poison but sleep was calling out to her, only rest would help her recover quickly. But a fear swelled in her if she fell asleep she would not wake, her life had been so close to death.
The sounds of his heart beat were lulling her to sleep. She was remembering her brief death, hovering over her body watching her sister use the family magic to save her, Tac was giving Aph her part of her life force. There was a bright blue flash, the world around her was spinning then she was back into her body, all she remembers after that was Aedons’ voice calling to her to open her eyes. All she said was that she was sorry to Aedon for being such a pain to him. He shushed her and told her to sleep, to rest they would discuss it later.
Now she needed sleep, it was going to be a fevered sleep as her body recovered from the very deadly poison. She shivered and shook feeling cold she curled up closer to Aedon feeling the warm from him as he watched over her sleep.
